Parsley is a versatile and flavorful herb commonly used in culinary dishes and garnishes. The three varieties offered by Wispy Willows Nursery are Giant of Italy, Moss Curled, and Triple Curled.

  • Giant of Italy: This variety of parsley features large, flat leaves with robust flavor. It is favored for its culinary uses and adds a bold taste to dishes. The leaves are flat and deeply serrated, making them ideal for chopping and adding to recipes.
  • Moss Curled: Moss Curled parsley is known for its tightly curled, dark green leaves. It has a milder flavor compared to the Giant of Italy variety and is commonly used as a garnish or in salads. The curly leaves add visual interest to culinary creations.
  • Triple Curled: Triple Curled parsley features finely curled leaves that resemble miniature ferns. It has a delicate flavor and is often used as a decorative garnish or in fresh salads. The curly texture adds texture and elegance to dishes.

  • Location: Plant parsley in a location that receives partial to full sun. It can tolerate some shade, especially in hot climates.

Soil: Provide well-draining, fertile soil with a pH of 6.0 to 7.0. Parsley prefers rich, organic soil but can adapt to various soil types.

Planting: Sow parsley seeds directly in the garden or start them indoors and transplant seedlings outdoors after the last frost date. Space plants 6 to 8 inches apart in rows spaced 12 to 18 inches apart.

Watering: Keep the soil consistently moist but not waterlogged. Water parsley regularly, especially during dry periods, to prevent wilting and bolting.

Mulching: Apply a layer of organic mulch around parsley plants to retain moisture, suppress weeds, and regulate soil temperature.

Fertilizing: Fertilize parsley with a balanced fertilizer or compost in early spring and again during the growing season to promote healthy growth.
