Mint can be invasive in the garden. To minimize mint taking over, it's recommended to grow it in containers. Occasionally, water soil deeply rather than lightly and often. To keep the plant bushy cut or pinch off the top two sets of leaves regularly. Cut plants down to the ground for winter.

Pick Mint regularly and often for healthier and more productive plants. You can pick just a little bit for a garnish or cut the stem near the soil. Mint will grow back quickly so don't worry.

When the center of the mint dies, it is a sign that the mint has become root bound. Remove the plant from the container and cut the root mass into thirds, and repot each portion in new soil and container.
